2019 - Year in Review & Looking Ahead

We've achieved a lot in 2019 - thanks to our community

New ventures can be exciting, exhausting and a steep learning curve and trust me, at Village Spirit we've experienced all of this in a very short time. From the start, we've always been open to seeing where the business takes us and ensuring we're listening to our customers to understand what they really want instead of independently creating a product and claiming it's the best they'll ever taste.
Gin Range

Yes, there are a lot of craft gin distillers popping up and the numbers are still rising - so what did we do differently?

Firstly and closest to our heart, is that we involve YOU! We want to ensure our products reflect what our customers want, so by inviting you to our Ginfluencer experiences we get to know what your preferences are and take the time to create a product that reflects the true spirit of the community.

Secondly, we produce the gin ourselves in our own micro-batch distillery - a true handcrafted gin. Nothing is outsourced we do it all - from vapour infusing the botanicals to bottling and hand labelling.

Gin Range

When we launched in 2018, our first product was Vann Lane Community Spirit, a contemporary London Dry and still a favourite for many of our customers. We then created our Vann Lane Winter Spirit with our Hambledon Ginfluencers in time for Christmas 2018.

Our Ginfluencer events in 2019, resulted in the development of our summer seasonal special made from local rhubarb and honey and a new community gin with our neighbouring town - Haslemere, laced with floral notes.

You asked us to produce some gift options, so we launched a half bottle size of our Winter Spirit and a gift set for Christmas 2019 which was a sell out at every event!

Events

As well as launching new products, we got involved in more community events - another opportunity to meet local customers and understand their tastes as well supporting the hard working organisers.

Events included a music festival and fetes in Chiddingfold, food & drink festivals in Haslemere and Christmas Markets in Farnham & Petworth.

We plan to do a lot more in 2020 so we can learn more from our community.

Corporate Events

A new addition to our offering in 2019 was both private gin experience parties and corporate events.

We had so much fun with Ventula hosting a gin experience in their board room in Borough, London with their talented team, which resulted in lots of personalised gin blends for them all to take home as well as a Ventula Gin for their clients!

One of our lovely Haslemere Ginfluencers hosted a surprise gin experience for her partners special birthday at her home with their friends and family. They now have their very own gin blend which they reordered as a Christmas gift.

Events

We really enjoyed hosting gin tastings & experiences with pubs & farm shops:

Haslemere Hound

As part of our committment to supporting the community, we sponsored a Haslemere Hound - 'Paw Yourself A Haslemere Gin'. This is an annual fundraising project in Haslemere which raises thousands of pounds for local causes.

Our fabulous artist, Tiffany Budd, painted the beautiful hound (who also, by the way, created the unique village artwork on our gin labels) and the auction money went to the wonderful new initiative - Haslemere Kitchen

We also sponsored the Hambledon Village Christmas Party, Hambledon Cricket Club, Hambledon FC, Haslemere Gin Festival, Chiddfest and Chiddingfold Bonfire Night as well as donating to many local school and charity fundraisers.

So... thank you all for being part of our story in 2019! I'm sure we haven't mentioned everyone but you know who you are.

We have some exciting news in 2020 and lots of events already booked in so check back again soon, join our newsletter and follow us on social if you're not already to keep up to date with our latest happenings.
